Azotobacter vinehndii Ribonucleic Acid Polymerase

چکیده

RNA synthesis by the Azofobacter vinelandii RNA polymerase is initiated with the incorporation of a ribonucleoside triphosphate to form the 5’ terminus of the chain. The RNA chains synthesized in vifro are preferentially initiated by purine ribonucleoside triphosphates. The ratio of guanosine triphosphate to ATP termini is determined by the DNA used to direct the synthesis of RNA. When denatured DNA is used as the template, this ratio is shifted in fevor of GTP termini.

Germination of Azotobacter vinelandii cysts: sequence of macromolecular synthesis and nitrogen fixation.

Azotobacter vinelandii cysts undergo conversion to vegetative cells in Burk's nitrogen-free medium utilizing glucose, sucrose, or acetate. In 1% glucose, this overall process was complete in 8 hr and consisted of a germination and an outgrowth phase. Respiration, ribonucleic acid, and protein synthesis began soon after the addition of the germinant, and these processes proceeded at rates charac...

The influence of syringomycin on ribonucleic acid synthesis.

Syringomycin, a wide-spectrum antibiotic produced by strains of Pseudomonas syringae which cause bacterial canker of peach, was able to bind to salmon sperm and calf thymus deoxyribonucleic acid but not to calf thymus histone; it also inhibited ribonucleic acid polymerase activity. These abilities to bind to deoxyribonucleic acid and to inhibit ribonucleic acid polymerase were inactivated when ...

Copolymers of Adenylic and Uridylic Acids

Although the detailed secondary structure of native deoxyribonucleic acid has been fairly well understood for some time (I), that of ribonucleic acid is only beginning to be clarified to a comparable degree. Doty et al. (2) have recently presented a tentative model for ribonucleic acid structure which is intermediate to the completely helical and completely amorphous extremes, and which consist...

Enzymatic Synthesis of Ribonucleic Acid. Iv. the Deoxyribonucleic Acid-directed Synthesis of Complementary Cytoplasmic Ribonucleic Acid Components.

The ribonucleic acid product formed by ribonucleic acid polymerase resembles its deoxyribonucleic acid template in base composition and in base sequence (l-6). The reaction in vitro results in the synthesis of RNA chains which are complementary to both DNA strands (6). Evidence for this originates from the formation of highly ordered RNA structures when the RNA polymerase product is annealed wi...
